May Iaido Seminar in Budapest

The beginning of May was dedicated for our members to a seminar led by the Italian teacher Claudio Zanoni, holder of 7th dan, Kyoshi. Three members from our dojo: Matej, Adriana, and Marián, participated in this event, taking part in the intensive Saturday training focused on ZNKR kata. During the training, we thoroughly went through all twelve forms, placing emphasis not only on technique and precision of movement but also on the correct understanding of the principles behind each technique. A New Space in the Heart of Kosice Bears the Signature of Our Talented Member

As part of the annual Kosice City Day celebrations, which traditionally take place at the turn of April and May, we had the opportunity to attend a very special event – the grand opening of the new MarathonPoint space, located right on Main Street. This place is not only a meeting point, but also a tribute to the rich history of the International Peace Marathon. MarathonPoint priamo na Hlavnej ulici. Tento priestor nie je len miestom stretnutí, ale aj poctou bohatej histórii Medzinárodného maratónu mieru. The project was created in collaboration between the City of Kosice and the Marathon Club, but for us it holds a special meaning for another reason. The design and realization of the space was led by our very own member Vincent ... Read More »A New Space in the Heart of Kosice Bears the Signature of Our Talented Member

Jodo seminar in Kosice

Jodo seminar in Kosice

On the second weekend of April, we had the pleasure of attending an international iaido seminar in the Belgian city of Roeselare. Practitioners from seven European countries gathered for an enriching weekend of training, and our dojo was proudly represented by Marián and Adriana. The adventure began as soon as we landed at Charleroi Airport, where a newly renovated terminal area greeted us after six years away. The modern layout was a pleasant surprise, though we must admit, it did make navigating to the exit a bit more interesting! The journey to Roeselare was long ... Read More »Jodo seminar in Kosice

Swiss Iaido Championships

Our teacher was invited again to the Swiss Iaido Championships

Stäfa, a charming Swiss town nestled on the shores of Lake Zurich and just under a half-hour train ride from the city of Zurich, carries a name inspired by the Scottish island of Stäfa. Historical records trace its roots back to the year 972, when Emperor Otto II confirmed that the lands around the lake, including Stäfa, belonged to a local monastery. The town is connected to the cantonal capital not only by rail, but also much to the fascination of us landlocked visitors, by a scenic, regularly scheduled boat route across the lake. The quaint square ... Read More »Our teacher was invited again to the Swiss Iaido Championships

Jodo seminar Budapest

Jodo seminar in Budapest

Following the Swiss seminar at the start of the new year, we continued our jodo journey in February with a weekend seminar in Budapest led by René sensei. True to his warm and lively nature, René sensei greeted us with a cheerful pirouette, a delightful surprise, especially considering it had only been two months since his hip replacement surgery. His mobility and energy were nothing short of impressive. Friday’s two-hour session focused first on kihon (fundamental movements), followed by kenjutsu practice, setting a strong foundation for the ... Read More »Jodo seminar in Budapest
