At the beginning of April, the city of Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic once again hosted its traditional iaido team competition, an event that continues to grow in popularity across the region. This unique format differs from standard individual contests: teams of three face off in a structure where each team competes againsteach otherensuring that all participants engage in multiple matches and gain valuable experience in real combat scenarios.
This year, 10 teams from various parts of the Czech Republic took part in the competition. The all-against-all format ensured a dynamic and engaging atmosphere throughout the day, full of focus, mutual respect, and a strong sense of team spirit among the competitors.
The winning team of this year’s edition came from the Kensei dojoin Prague, demonstrating consistently strong performances and impressive teamwork. Their success stands as a testament to the quality and dedication of their long-term training.
Although no competitors from our dojo participated this year, we were proud to be represented on the judging panel by our Marián sensei. With his expert eye and many years of experience, he contributed to the smooth and fair conduct of the event. We’re glad he was able to support the tournament in such a meaningful way.
Nozomi taikai - team competition once again proved its unique value in the regional martial arts calendar. Thanks to its inclusive and intensive format, where everyone gets multiple opportunities, it remains an ideal opportunity to test both technique and spirit in a practical setting. We hope to return next year not only as judges but with a full competition team to take part in this exceptional event.
