The beginning of May was dedicated for our members to a seminar led by the Italian teacher Claudio Zanoni, holder of 7th dan, Kyoshi.
Three members from our dojo: Matej, Adriana, and Marián, participated in this event, taking part in the intensive Saturday training focused on ZNKR kata. During the training, we thoroughly went through all twelve forms, placing emphasis not only on technique and precision of movement but also on the correct understanding of the principles behind each technique.
Claudio sensei recently returned from Japan, where he attended training sessions, the Kyoto Enbu Taikai, and also watched the 8th dan examinations as a spectator. It was especially valuable for us that he shared fresh insights and experiences directly from the birthplace of Iaido. His explanations were clear, inspiring, and highly practical, highlighting many details that often go unnoticed but have a significant impact on the quality of kata execution.
Another great benefit was the feedback we received from sensei during the training. Each of us had the opportunity to work on our personal weaknesses and, at the same time, gain a new perspective on practices we have known for years but still have much to learn from.
